I believe wholeheartedly in skin health, natural products and non toxic makeup! What we put on our skin is just as important to our overall health as what we put in our bodies and I’ve been working to find paraben-free and phthalate free skin care products I love for over ten years. Dealing with psoriasis and a love for the sun has made me even more conscious of the skin care products and non toxic makeup I use.
I also don’t want to break the bank or spend hours on my skin every day! I don’t get facials or peels so I want something that works easily from home. I want products that feel good, have a toxic-free ingredient list, are cruelty-free, are easy to use and are affordable.
After a year of hearing about BeautyCounter, I finally decided to try a few non toxic makeup an skin care products and give you my honest review! There are a few I love and a few I felt so-so about and you can hear about it all in the video above.
I do believe in supporting companies doing good work and I think BeautyCounter is one of those. If you are looking for other all natural skin care products and companies I use and support, you can find my natural skin care routine here. All of these products are also under $20!
Here is a list of the products I discuss in the video above:
My holy grail of serums! I am in love. Rub onto your skin 3-5 nights a week and watch your skin tone even out and see the glow come out!
Very sheer and easy to apply, this works as a daytime moisturizer with an SPF of 20 as well as your foundation. I use color No. 3 for reference.
I use this on my under eye circles (I’m tired, y’all). What makes this unique and my favorite is actually the applicator. It does not leak or get all over the lid. Easy to apply, very sheer, blends nicely.
I am not a mask expert by any means, but I do find my skin feels brighter and more toned after I use one! I incorporate it into my skin care routine about twice a week. I enjoy this one for how quickly it dries and how easy it is to use. Simple, clean and easy, which is what I like in my routine! If you like your masks on the thin and quickly drying side, use this one. If you like a thicker mask that takes longer to set, try the Andalou I mentioned in the under $20 products above!
I have been desperately looking for a natural liquid eye liner I like. I think this might be it (finally)! It has a very fine tip for easy application and a light look (I’m not into cat or smokey eyes at school pick up thank you very much). It doesn’t smudge during the day which has been my problem with eye liners, so this is a thumbs up from me.
I’m still looking for the perfect eyeliner pencil, but this is a great option. My only complaint is that it isn’t self sharpening and I have to buy an eyeliner sharpener (because I threw mine away). It is creamy when it goes on which I appreciate and it also didn’t smudge on me throughout the day.
Yes yes yes! I don’t think I can explain how many lip glosses I’ve tried over the years. My biggest complaints? Too sticky (yuck) or bad colors. This one is light, not sticky and I LOVE the fig color (great pop of color without being “too much”). I also tried the bare shimmer color which I honesty don’t like – too much shimmer and glitter. If that’s your thing you’ll like it, I just didn’t.
Another homerun for me and something I’ve been searching for. I find it very moisturizing (meaning I don’t need a huge layer of chapstick underneath it). I use the color “raisin” which I adore. I also tried the Color Intense Lipstick and, while I do like it, I find it a little more drying than the Sheer Lipstick, so I think this will be my go to.
While I didn’t personally start with this, it’s a great option if you want to try a few of the things above and dive in to non toxic makeup (I ended up getting everything in separate orders as I figured out what I wanted to try, but it did probably cost a little more that way). With this kit you get: Dew Skin Moisturizing, Skin Touch Up Concealer Pen, Brow Gel, Mascara, Blush and Lip Gloss.
I think this is a great base and light foundation. It’s what I used exclusively for a few years before finding the Beauty Counter Dew Skin as mentioned above. You can’t go wrong with either! As mentioned in the video, my one preference of the Dew Skin is the pump applicator versus squeezing the tube.
